David Mendez Alonso is a mixed-media designer originally from a suburb outside Barcelona, Spain, called Galicia. Showing tremendous skill with shape, color, and abstract interpretation, Alonso has a way of getting you to re-think the traditional role of a designer by extending his reach not just to posters and printed materials, but to the things that surround us in everyday life. Blending both the elitism wrought by Swiss-style designers like Paul Rand, and the haste-filled creation of modern street art, I can’t help but feel he’s created a perfect representation of what it means to be a modern graphic designer.
